Summary

A holistic design language for Porsche's digital world — one system of principles guiding how the brand looks, feels, and behaves across the car, the app, and the web. Grounded in brand research and five shared design codes, so every future digital touchpoint stays unmistakably Porsche.

Title

Problem

Porsche's digital touchpoints — car infotainment, mobile app, and website — evolved independently over the years, resulting in a mostly unified but fragmented visual language lacking shared guidance and a truly contemporary digital expression. Competitor benchmarking showed that while Porsche already sat among the more "holistic" automotive brands, emerging EV-native players had raised the bar for clean, consistent digital experiences — while Porsche risked blending into "sameness" rather than standing apart as differentiated and unmistakably Porsche.

The idea

"The fastest way into Porsche."

Rather than treating car, app, and web as separate design systems, we defined a single, evolving digital design language — Porsche Digital Interaction (DI) — built on a clear brand promise: every digital moment should feel like Digital "Leichtbau" (fast, effortless, precise) paired with Community feeling (warm, personal, emotionally resonant). This promise translates Porsche's brand character into tangible interface behavior.

Defining the Brand Promise

Before touching a single pixel, we asked a foundational question: what does Porsche want to promise its users, digitally? We distilled this into two pillars: a functional promise - Digital "Leichtbau": fast, intuitive, precise interfaces with zero friction- and an emotional promise -Community feeling: warmth, belonging, and personalization.

This dual promise became the litmus test for every subsequent design decision. If a screen wasn't fast and it didn't feel warm, it wasn't yet Porsche.

Character, not just chrome

We anchored the visual language in three enduring Porsche personas: the Hero (Focus), the Rebel (Tension), and the Creator (Purpose). Figures who represent driven, ambitious, and unconventional thinking. This meant our shift from bordered, uniform components to borderless shapes and dynamic roundings wasn't a stylistic whim; it was a deliberate move to make the interface feel less "manufactured" and more alive, echoing the same tension and precision found in Porsche's product design language.

The mission

Create inspiring and precise high-performance moments
 — every time someone interacts with Porsche digitally.

The Approach

We developed design codes that define the look and feel of digital interactions — honoring Porsche’s heritage, engaging users emotionally, and delivering personalized, high-quality experiences.

These codes combine visual expression with UX behaviour, serving as a clear guidedance how “the fastest way into Porsche” should look, move and respond.

Code 01

Stage the hero
Focus on Porsche’s rich heritage and outstanding products by giving them the best possible stage. Designing with minimal distractions and a strong focus puts the hero—whether it’s a car, a person, or the brand itself—at the center of attention. The one thing we want to show or explain is presented consistently, with features, content, and interactions all contributing to it.

Code 02

Tell a story
We use the power of storytelling to create experiences that follow a consistent narrative. These moments guide users in ways that resonate and help them build a deeper connection with the brand. Go beyond information delivery—evoke emotion and lead users intuitively. Every interaction has a beginning and an outcome; shape that journey as a story people can easily follow — and never forget.

Code 03

Boost interaction
Create intuitive and compelling interactive moments that invite users to actively engage. Interfaces should feel vivid and adaptive, offering multiple ways to interact, enriched with ambient content and conversational components. The goal is to foster exploration and a sense of control, reflecting the precision and excitement of driving a Porsche.

Code 04

Keep focus
We create rhythm and flow by balancing dynamic, highly interactive moments with clear, simple, and calm sections. Confident design choices reduce to the essential where possible, preserve beauty in the details, and establish clear points of focus. The deliberate tension reflects Porsche’s energetic and performance-driven spirit.

The rollout

A refreshed, holistic digital design language.
Crafted to amplify the fascination of Porsche in the digital world.

Porsche DI was designed as an evolution, not a disruption: it builds on the existing Porsche design foundation and it’s designed to roll out in phases, scaling from an updated visual language to full pattern libraries and governing guidelines. The result is intended to be a differentiated, emotionally intelligent digital presence that competitors might be able to copy in feature but not in character — reinforcing Porsche's core belief: Porsche. There is no substitute.
